Brisbane Saturday Fresh Market
For 43 years, produce markets have flourished at Rocklea. In 1964, they moved locations from Roma Street in Brisbane, Australia, to Rocklea and the markets were able to expand and became more popular than anyone ever imagined. In 2004, Saturday Fresh Markets was born, which became the largest of Brisbane's markets selling fresh food.
The Saturday Fresh Markets are located at the site of Brisbane's Marketplace, in Sherwood Road, Rocklea. Every Saturday morning, the place bustles with the noise and aromas of people buying and selling the best quality food. From baked goods, to fresh seafood and fresh fruit and vegetables, you'll find everything you need in the one place. The markets promote healthy eating and living, and provide countless ideas for your dinner table.
You will also find gourmet and exotic food available as you wander the 130 stalls. However, it's not all about the food. You'll also find lifestyle goods, plants and other surprises to browse through. And when you are all shopped out, grab a cold drink or a coffee and relax at one of the cafes on site. The Saturday Fresh Markets are an energising start to any weekend.
The markets are open 6.30am-12.30pm in winter, and 6am-12pm in summer. Entry costs $1, though children under 15 can get in free. Parking is free and plentiful, though $1 priority parking is available if required. It is just as easy to catch public transport, as the Rocklea train station is only 790 metres away and the Great Circle bus stops outside.
